Origin and compliance

Where the wood comes from, and how we know

Plenty of people resell pellets without knowing exactly where they come from. As long as the lot is good, nobody asks. Here is what we check, and what we can show you.

    The producer's name

    The producer, its town, its country and its certification are written on the report for every lot. Not a region, an address.

    The standard and Belgian law

    ISO 17225-2 defines classes A1, A2 and B. In Belgium, the Royal Decree of 5 April 2011 already sets a minimum standard for any pellet sold for domestic heating. Many buyers do not know this.

    Russian and Belarusian wood

    Under EU sanctions since 2022. The danger is receiving it without knowing, routed through a third country. The only defence against that is traceability back to the producer: an intermediary's word is not enough.

    The EU Deforestation Regulation

    It bans placing wood, pellets included, on the EU market without two things: proof that the plot of origin was not deforested after 31 December 2020, and a due diligence statement filed before each placement on the market. The deadline is 30 December 2026 for medium and large companies, 30 June 2027 for micro and small ones (EU regulation 2025/2650). For a serious breach, the fine starts at 4% of annual EU turnover. Ukraine is rated a low risk country in the EU's May 2025 classification: enhanced checks are lighter there, but traceability still applies.

    ENplus certification

    The law does not require ENplus. It is the label professionals recognise among themselves. The one that matches our activity is called ENplus Trader, because we store the pellets ourselves rather than reselling them on paper: budget €0.15 to €0.18 per tonne, €250 in annual fees, eight steps and two to three months. The file is under way. We will only put that badge on the site the day the certificate is active, not before.

    Check for yourself

    The report for each lot, the producer's name, where our certifications stand: ask, and we will send it. A professional buyer or a financial partner can have the full file before ordering or investing.
